Bas Vellekoop
Lets hope that with the shift to VGM the core of vectorworks on the graphic site is up-to-date and that the implementation of 3d hatches is near and that they now have enough resources free to develop better and complete BIM-tools. Starting with the wish list on needle and mortar... Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Download and installation was a breeze. Much better than last year. Quote Link to comment
dtheory
Somehow, the folks at NV screwed up my VSS renewal, so I have no access @ the portal. Been trying for a week to get re-instated, sounds like it's getting passed round and round to different desks... Let us know your impressions Christiaan, once you start using the new release. Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 17, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 17, 2013 The New Feature Videos, which give an overview of each major feature one by one, can be viewed here: http://www.vectorworks.net/2014/new_features.php Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
Jim, there was mention here and there of new training/tutorial material for us VSS members. When could we expect these? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted September 17, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 17, 2013 Not sure on the exact release dates for those, although once they are completed they should appear marked at the top of the 101s/HowTos sections in the Service Select portal. Normally they'll be flagged as new. There may be a direct email to VSS subscribers, alerting them if they decide to put a large amount of new material all out at once, but again I haven't heard any specific plans. Quote Link to comment
ray isaacs
Download and installation was a breeze. Much better than last year. Christiaan is right. i was one of those who got held up for a day or so last year. this year, login-download-install-run-activate-open document took about ten minutes. so far its good! cheers, ray Quote Link to comment
Guest BillV
I have created a saved view from the clip cube. Works fine. GL Rendering speed is huge improvement as is the ability to create cross section viewports from the clip cube. Flattened viewports also very useful. Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
2013 File conversion issue...just a heads up, I converted a file that already had sheet layers w/ viewports setup. I had to redo the viewports that were in OPEN GL because they had some persistent old geometry showing (I'm thinking it was cached in memory, I tried to make it got away by switching render modes and then back again but that did no work either. Tom Klaber
Upgrade installation was fast. I used it all day today. It did not crash once. WAY better experience so far compared to 2013. Quote Link to comment
steve s
Well, I have been trying to crash VW 2014 by opening several files and re rendering to get to the dreaded 2.5 gb memory usage threshold and Sorry to say it crashed. So for me, the most troubling thing about VW has not been fixed. It's hard for me to comprehend how this is acceptable or unfixable. I opened 3 files and re rendered a couple times then opened a complex file and tried to render once and VW crashed. So I have to keep an eye on activity monitor and can't do too much without closing and reopening VW Quote Link to comment
matthunt
I've had to re-enter my license serial number each time I launch. Also it doesn't look like all the libraries loaded, and the ones the VSS website showed me don't seem to have installed properly. When I try to open them I get several different dialogues, and then there's nothing in the files. I'm hoping not to have to uninstall and reinstall. Quote Link to comment
Guest Jim Kelly
Matt could you email me your InstallerLog.txt as well as a screen shot of the dialogs? Please don't post them here. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Well, I have been trying to crash VW 2014 by opening several files and re rendering to get to the dreaded 2.5 gb memory usage threshold and Sorry to say it crashed. Same here. I don't think we're going to have a solution to this until VW goes 64-bit. Only solution is to split file up into multiple files so you don't have too many viewports in one file. Let's hope workgroup referencing has improved to assist us in this process. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
I'd be tempted to re-install if you're getting that kind of message. Quote Link to comment
RDS Casa
Small stuff but... They have replaced the batch export pdf with publish? But still the revision code or issue code does not make it through to the pdf name? Our contractors insist on the revision being included in the title for their live information sets (and for good reason). And still the the revision tool is limited to just letters or just numbers? (Does anyone still do that? we need more flexibility T1, C1 etc.) And still they put those stupid square brackets in, which planningportal.org cant cope with so we have to manually take them off before uploading I've only been using it for a few hours. Sorry but I'm disappointed. So many little things could improve functionality. Quote Link to comment
steve s
Have been working on a site model, 2014 is handling it very well, made numerous changes and re renders, as long as I restart VW before it gets to 2.5 gb memory usage it has been rock solid. Quote Link to comment
Stan Rostas
Steve, 2.5 gb is the limit before crashing and save memory errors. Section Veiwports with Site DTM seem to effect the climb to this limit faster than without SiteDTM. Quote Link to comment
