Norge
I am setting up a new default template file for our office. I would like to set up a standard set of classes that comply with BS1192 and IFC protocols. Is there a Standard Naming standard that provides a set of correctly names classes (similar to the AIA set) that automatically classes objects? Is there a file available that could generate a source for new classes? Or do we all have to methodically produce our own - which will inevitably lead to errors when trying to exchange data through IFC. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Where are you based? If in UK use http://aecuk.wordpress.com/ By the way classes don't get exported to IFC files. Edited May 13, 2013 by Christiaan Quote Link to comment
Norge
That's a great link - thank you. But is there a vectorworks file that I can import the classes from. If you can't export classes to IFC, then how do we export to IFC in Vectorworks? Yes, I am based in London UK Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted May 14, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted May 14, 2013 File > Export > Export IFC Project. You will be asked to map the design layers into a Story structure (if you haven't already used stories in your building setup). Any objects that have IFC data attached will be exported, with their data You'll be able to query that information in an IFC viewer such as Solibri. The document Christiaan has pointed you to is excellent for standard setup. I would recommend that you also create as many standard library objects (wall styles, etc) so that they will insert into the correct class automatically, and can be referenced into each project as required. This will reduce the potential for error. Quote Link to comment
