nobass
Hi all,2 questions, one simple, one not so simple: firstly, the not so simple: on VW 8.5.2 for macs, we have a particular file which often crashes when we zoom in or out from close range. This often happens in particular areas of the drawing. When it happens, all we can do is force quit, though we do not have to restart the mac. The problem happens on more than 1 mac (G4's). We tried cutting and pasting to a new file, not sure if exporting to dxf and back again would help, but this messes up the scale and line weights , colours, etc, and its a pretty big file, about 5 megs. Anyone experience anything similar? Next, the easier question: IN VW9, again for macs, how do you nudge things? "shift" and an arrow key moves it, but how do nudge in larger increments. In VW8 it was "apple" and "comma", then "alt" plus arrow, but it seems to have changed.... Thanks Quote Link to comment
Cloud Hidden
Command-shift-arrow nudges according to your grid. I wish it had even larger nudges--maybe "shoves"--that would move 5 or 10 times the grid. I know, I know, it's called the Move command, but still. Quote Link to comment
Matthew Giampapa
nobass, Crashing when zoomed to a particular part of a file is a sign of a corrupt object or group. In general if you email the file to tech@nemetschek.net we can test the file and repair/remove the offending object. Shift - Arrow, will always move you 1 pixel at your current zoom level. Shift - Command - Arrow, will always move you one increment on the grid to scale. You can change your grid size by going to the page menu -> set grid. nobass
thanks all, Matthew, in the meantime I've found that if the file in question is opened in VW 9, then exported back to VW 8.5.2 , it seems (hopefully) to have solved the problem, would there be an explaination for this?By the way, is there a free upgrade from VW9 to VW9.5, etc, and can this be downloaded? Thanks again. Quote Link to comment
Matthew Giampapa
The translation process between versions can solve problems because it will parse out some information if it appears invalid. Or it could be that 8.5 is not subject to the same display problem. You may see this again if you bring the file back into 9. (Of course you may not as well) If you currently have 9.0.1 or later, all of the updates can be downloaded from http://www.nemetschek.net/downloads/vectorworks/index.html. If you only have 9.0.0, you will need to call our customer service department at 1-888-646-4223, and have a new CD sent out. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support Quote Link to comment
