doug shaffer
Hello, everyone - I know that many people over the years have requested good "gravel" hatches (among others). I still have not found one that behaves well. Does anyone have one you would be willing to share? I have tried using the "stipple" tool, which creates a very nice representation of what I'm looking for, but when several areas of stipple are placed in a design layer, the file gets much slower. That is, zooming becomes tedious. (...and why after all these years does the hatch tool remains so user-unfriendly?) Doug Quote Link to comment

Christiaan
Any good? Scale to suit. Quote Link to comment
doug shaffer
Thanks, Matt - I've tried using tiles for other things, but haven't gotten the hang of it. I'll watch the tutorial and give it a shot. Quote Link to comment
doug shaffer
Thanks, Christiaan - I think I had this one, or one very similar, that ended up bogging down files because of the many layers that make it up. It looks great, though. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Doug Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Yes it can hog resources if there's a lot of it. Quote Link to comment
Ferger
Why is the scale of the hatch so small? Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Why is the scale of the hatch so small? We were using it in a 1:5 detail, just adjust to suit your needs Ferger. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted August 30, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted August 30, 2013 Hi Ferger, Just to expand on Christiaan's post, you can edit the hatch via right-clicking on it in the Resource Browser. In the Edit Hatch dialog, click on the "Scale" button and enter the scale factor you wish to scale it to. Also note that hatches can be set to page dimensions or world dimensions. Set to Page Dimensions if you want the hatch to print at the same size regardless of the drawing scale. Set to World Dimensions if you want it the scale along with the drawing. Quote Link to comment
