mmiles
Hi all, One of our users has run into a problem with a few files. An error stating that a file is in use appears while trying to open files. This message indicated that the computer being used was the one that had the file open. That the file was open was not true. No one else was in the office at the time, nor were there any other computers running, let alone using VW or the file in question. Additional info: All of the files that are generating these messages are in the same project file folder, although several VW files for the project are in sub-folders of the project file folder. We are recent upgrades to VW2013 Architect, from VW 2008 Architect. Thanks in advance for your input. Quote Link to comment
Dieter @ DWorks
Check the folder permissions if you can't open any file in that folder. You can also try to create a new folder, move all files to that and try again. There may be another process that uses the files like backup etc? pgym
VW creates a .lck (lock) file when you open a file in VW to prevent other users on the network from opening/saving over it. It's supposed to be deleted when you close the file or quit VW, but it's often left behind when VW crashes, in which case you'll need to delete it manually. It's normally a hidden file, so you'll have to show all files (Mac) or show hidden files (Windows) to see it. Quote Link to comment
