texture in 3D models

Convert the object to a Mesh. You can then enter the (mesh) group and apply a texture to the required face.

OR

Use the Extract tool to copy a face in 3D. If you then move this 3D object slightly away from the original object you will be able to apply a texture to it and have it render without coincident object interference. (You could also extract a Planar object as the face and give this a very thin 3D form by extruding it.)

It could be simpler depending on which side you want texture on, what the geometry of the polygon is, and which direction you extruded it. You may be able to use the Part drop-down on the Render tab of the OIP to isolate the texture to the side you need. It gives you options for top/bottom/sides. The orientation of the "top" is relative to the direction you extruded the object.
