joey altalef
Hi.. does someone knows how to apply a texture to just one side of an extruded polygon? thanks! Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Convert the object to a Mesh. You can then enter the (mesh) group and apply a texture to the required face. OR Use the Extract tool to copy a face in 3D. If you then move this 3D object slightly away from the original object you will be able to apply a texture to it and have it render without coincident object interference. (You could also extract a Planar object as the face and give this a very thin 3D form by extruding it.) Quote Link to comment
cad@sggsa
Yes you can extrude at 0(zero) thickness. I use this for shadecloth. Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
It could be simpler depending on which side you want texture on, what the geometry of the polygon is, and which direction you extruded it. You may be able to use the Part drop-down on the Render tab of the OIP to isolate the texture to the side you need. It gives you options for top/bottom/sides. The orientation of the "top" is relative to the direction you extruded the object. Kevin Quote Link to comment
joey altalef
Hi mike, .. I tried converting it to mesh but when I went inside the group, VW didnt let me change the texture of the selected surface... but I guess that the reason is because im using VW 2010... Using the extract tool worked well thanks! Quote Link to comment
joey altalef
Hi kevin, thanks I tried using the Part drop-down tool, but it didnt do anything to the texture..I built simple cubes and tried that tool.. Im pretty sure it is because of my version of VW (2010) Quote Link to comment
Kevin McAllister
You need to make sure you choose the drop down item first (ie. top) and then set the texture. If you set the texture first, it will default to overall. To undo this, choose overall from the drop down and then choose Texture: None. Any modifications to the texture need to be done with the correct Part selected in the drop down. Kevin Quote Link to comment
