hgdesign
How do you convert a 2D/3D symbol in order to use as the object to extrude along path? I've tried using one of the handrail top profiles and can not use it. Thanks Using 2010 Vectorworks Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
You need to Edit the Symbol, find the 2d Profile Shape, Copy it, then Paste it into the document as an Object (not in a Symbol or Group). Quote Link to comment
hgdesign
Thanks Peter, works like a charm. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
You're welcome. One thing to be aware of is to make certain that the Polygon used for EAP (or anything for that matter) is "Closed" and has "Solid" fill. If not then it can cause texturing/rendering anomalies or failures... Quote Link to comment
mac@stairworks
You can also insert the symbol, convert it to a group and then ungroup it. Quote Link to comment
Joe-SA
I've found that if you have curves in your profile and want them to show in hidden line rendering without the facets of the curve you need to convert the polygon profile to a NURBS curve. This works well when modeling gutters and mouldings. I also take the VW columns plugin and make it a symbol and then add circular EAP's to create the base and head trim. This gives me nicely profiled columns in 3d that also need no extra linework in elevation. Joe Quote Link to comment
