J. Wallace
Hello I am having some challenges with a DTM. The model was created and a pad w/retaining edge added and massing model placed onto it. All is great... First I have tried to add a texture to the pad without sucess. I can texture the model no problem. Tried to add a texture bed to display asphalt road and parking. Attached is a small texture bed I added. It punches a hole in the model and then sits well above. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted January 18, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 18, 2013 It may be that you have added an elevation to the Texture bed. This is not necessary. Set it back to 0 and see if that makes any difference... You cannot apply a texture directly to a pad. Hope that helps Quote Link to comment
J. Wallace
Thanks Tamsin... That did the trick. If I can't texture a pad do you have a suggestion how I can add a asphalt parking are to this? 3d polgon? Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Use another Texture Bed. That's what they're for. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted January 18, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 18, 2013 Sorry - dinner got in the way of my reply! Yes, Peter has given you the answer. Texture beds are for painting textures on the model. Pads are for changing the elevation of points on the model. Quote Link to comment
J. Wallace
Thanks to both of you. Great info. Here is an image of what I'm dealing with now. Texture bed sits on the pad but punches a hole in it and then has no file or texture? http://jaandesigns.ca/page/example Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted January 18, 2013 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted January 18, 2013 To add a texture bed that displays a texture you have to create a class and assign the texture on the Other tab within the class definition. Then, on the Object Info palette, assign the class for the texture - not the object class field, but the field further down the palette. You'll see the one I mean - can't remember the exact name as I don't have VW by me right now. But that will fix it! Hope that helps Quote Link to comment
