VectorGeek
Hey AutoCAD gurus, We typically export DWG files for consultants to use as backgrounds. Since switching to VW2011, I've noticed that when they print their drawings, our imported text is backwards, only if it was inside a flipped symbol. Is there a setting (like the one that used to be in VectorWorks) to always "reverse flipped text"? Thanks in advance!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ VectorGeek Proud supporter of Bill the Cat 2016. VW2011, SP5 Mac OS X 10.7.4 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted November 7, 2012 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted November 7, 2012 Hi Try Adjust Flipped Text. It's in Document Preferences on the Display tab. Quote Link to comment
VectorGeek
It's not in VW that the problem exists. The text in our drawings displays properly as we have "Adjust Flipped Text" checked. The problem is in the DWG exports. VG Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
VectorGeek that is what happens with text in mirrored Symbols in Vw 2011 and the only way to overcome it is to convert the Symbols into Groups before you do the export. I've just checked and it is still that way in Vw 2013. What I do to overcome it is: - Not use text in Symbols that are attached to walls. - Have the insertion option for Symbols that include text set to Convert to Group. And yes it has been bug reported. MattG
I have had this problem in my work, and I have not found a real solution. A lot of my text in symbols is actually linked to record formats for the symbols. Quote Link to comment
VectorGeek
Thanks Mike & Matt, My fears have been confirmed. In our case it's happening with custom made PIOs. I'll write a script to nuke all those to groups before exporting. Thanks for the input. V-G. Quote Link to comment
JMR
Any solution to this as yet? This is actually quite important, we need our own symbols to export text correctly. To elaborate further, I don't understand where this mirroring originates. In the original VW file, everything is at zero rotation, no mirroring. In the exported dwg, text in symbols flip seemingly by random. 1 Quote Link to comment
joey altalef
Hi we have the same problem. When the consultants print their work (made with autocad and with our exported background) their texts flip. Some consultants prefer using a PDF of our plans as the background... 1 Quote Link to comment
