Christiaan
So now that we're producing 3D models for our construction documents it seems a bit of a waste to use them just for plans, sections, elevations and scheduling. Any ideas for useful ways of presenting the model in 3D on paper? Quote Link to comment
ray isaacs
what about axonometrics? i don't do much in terms of cd's, but find that axons are a good way to illustrate framing relationships, etc. mechanical engineers have used axons traditionally to show stacks, etc. because they are parallel projections, they are scalable. ray Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Yeah I was thinking perhaps an exploded one. Quote Link to comment
digitalcarbon
christiaan, are you using the model for interior elevations? before, when we were all 2d we could only afford to do 2 sheets of interiors (kitchen & baths) now with a model we have all rooms with interior elevations shown. at first it seemed like why do it, but now we use all these interiors to confirm, trims, electrical and even making sure structural is not poking out of a wall. i gives us a high level of confidence. can't live without it now. atari2600
Ask the audience. Who are you drawing for? They (the Contractors) hopefully think your drawings are AT LEAST one step above toilet paper. That is usually the goal that we try to achieve here where I work, and we draw for the same carpenters and project managers every time. Quote Link to comment
