paulvalentine
Hi all, I'm new to vector works, and new to this forum. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to adjust the cut height of my plans as well as the visibility. Long story short, I'd like to cut the plan at a typical 48" and have everything above that cut line appear as a dotted line. Thank you for you help! Paul Quote Link to comment
Peter van der Elst
Unfortunately you have to draw the dotted lines yourself or use a autohybrid object. Alternatively try Archicad. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted October 12, 2012 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 12, 2012 The Autohybrid command will do just that. You can select objects from your model, run Create Autohybrid and then determine the cut plane. You can specify how objects should look below the cut plane and above it. You can also choose to represent objects as a reflected ceiling plan. For windows in walls, you can also specify dashed lines for clerestory windows above a cut plane height. Hope that helps Quote Link to comment
ray isaacs
tamsin, does that mean you have to repeat the process for every object in the model? very cumbersome. then what happens when you make changes? peter, i want to find out more about archicad. do you know of a similar forum for archicad users? ray Quote Link to comment
paulvalentine
Thanks Peter and Tasmin, I agree with ray in that it sounds extremely cumbersome to do this throughout an entire plan. Coming from experience with other BIM programs, it seems that there has to be a way to control the display settings for the whole plan. Quote Link to comment

VincentCuclair
You'll need to specify a little more what type of project and objects your considering. Certain PIOs (Plug In Objects) have settings for this (windows, doors, stairs, trusses etc). Certain Tools have settings for this (i.e. Hybrid Symbols, Auto hybrid etc.) In addition there are several was to achieve this for the remaining objects e.g.. using different Layers, Classes and VPs (Viewports) with overrides etc. Edited October 12, 2012 by Vincent C Quote Link to comment
