Christian Fekete
I like to turn off sheathing and drywall layers to dimension to framing. Which class should I use to draw my walls and be able to see the frame part when I need? Quote Link to comment
taoist
By framing I assume you mean plates. Unfortunately, the AEC > Dimension Exterior Walls tool needs help/rewrite. We should be able to choose which wall component to dimension to instead of just extents or centers. Would be great to be able to dimension to Wall Core in your case. We should have this ability for T-Wall intersections as well. This would be great for new home builders vs remodelers. You could always have wall types based on need. I have walls with drywall & no drywall. I denote whether they are bearing or not as well. Quote Link to comment
Joe-SA
The Snap Loupe feature (Z-quick key) lessons the need to turn off different wall components and still get the snap point you wish to use. Wall Styles set up with wall component classes (Wall-Component-Sheathing, Wall-Component-Frame) should give you the ability to turn off the classes you wish regardless of what class the Wall itself is in. Incidentally, the default is to have the siding and sheathing in the same class...I created the sheathing class to control it independently. Joe Quote Link to comment
Christian Fekete
I agree with the setup that you mention and I turn the siding and sheathing of to snap to the framing. My question had to do with the appropriate class to draw the wall assembly on. I am not sure which I should use or if auto-classing would be the best, let VW decide. Quote Link to comment
