Christiaan
When can we expect cloud rendering to be able to render our files? Quote Link to comment

Kevin McAllister
Haha Peter, I'm not entirely sure that's what Christiaan meant..... Kevin Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Peter, we've had the cloud rendering service since it came out in the UK and we've never been able to render our files with it. It's always failed, and not for any of the reasons given here: http://kbase.vectorworks.net/questions/997/Cloud+Job+File+Failure Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
Sorry to hear that Christiaan. I assume you have been in touch with your local reseller/support firm, and that they (or you) have filed bugs accordingly?? If so, and if the VW's engineers have the files which fail, I'm pretty sure they will find a solution. FWIW, I have also used the service and have only had one file fail. All others seem to render fine... Additionally, as I understand it, with the latest release, rendering is done in the background allowing users to continue working... Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
See this Peter: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=170503#Post170503 Their machines/software simply isn't man enough. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
And my response, with no rejoinder as of yet: http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=172976#Post172976 Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted October 3, 2012 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 3, 2012 Hello Christiaan: From what I remember about your issues, the file is so large that it consumes all free RAM and that is the reason why updating all viewports fails on the cloud. From what I remember your files also fail in the local desktop version for this reason. If they fail on the local desktop version sending them to the cloud will not cause them to suddenly succeed, the cloud still uses VW as for the desktop. Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
Dave, thanks for the response, but we're able to render them on our machines so the problem is at your end. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Dave Donley Posted October 3, 2012 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted October 3, 2012 I think the difference between rendering on your local Mac and the cloud which is Windows-based may be why you're not seeing it locally. Quote Link to comment
Stan Rostas
Dave, We are also not able to Render in the cloud with most if not all our projects. We are experiencing the same thing as Christiaan. Quote Link to comment

Not sure I understand. Are you saying Macs are capable of rendering more complex files? I think that's what Donne Martin posited to me at some point. Quote Link to comment

If this is true, doesn't it make more sense for the Vectorworks Cloud Services be Mac based? Kevin Quote Link to comment
Christiaan
If this is true, doesn't it make more sense for the Vectorworks Cloud Services be Mac based? Technically it would make more sense but I think licensing is an issue. Quote Link to comment
