Greg P. Posted July 22, 2002 Share Posted July 22, 2002 Hello, I have been using Vetorworks Spotlight for about a month now with few problems. Last week I got sent a Auto-CAD file with an odd scale. I can import the file without problem but I would like to be able to draw in a new layer in the original drawings scale. The scale of the original drawing is 3/16. Is the best way to handle this drawing to re-scale the drawing to a scale that VW supports? Thanks for your help.Sincerely,Greg Persinger Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign Posted July 22, 2002 Share Posted July 22, 2002 Greg, you can set any VW layer scale manually if you know the corresponding numbers (ratio). If I remember correctly, Arch Graphic Standards has an appendix with all the numbers. Alternately you could use your original idea and re-scale the autocad dwg's. PLC Quote Link to comment
Bryan_dup1 Posted July 23, 2002 Share Posted July 23, 2002 3/16" To 1'0" Scale is 1:72 The seat of the pants method to figure this is that this scale is halfway between 1/4" (1:48) & 1/8" (1:96). I do this alot to rescale drawings to 8.5" x 11" paper to fax. Quote Link to comment
Chad Posted July 24, 2002 Share Posted July 24, 2002 "3/16" To 1'0" Scale is 1:72 " Nope. It's 1:64 -->12" / .1875" = 64 And 3/8" = 1'-0" is 1:32, not 1:36..... There's a handy reference at the back of the VW manual, too. Quote Link to comment

Greg P. Posted July 27, 2002 Author Share Posted July 27, 2002 Hello, Thanks to all who responded, all the information was a big help. The ratio's did the trick. Greg Quote Link to comment
