WinDoor: offset wall components?

Is it possible to offset wall components adjacent to WinDoor objects, like you can with the built-in window object? (e.g. I want to pull the external insulation in front of the window frame)

I'm right in saying you can only do this with the built in VW window object right? i.e. with the insulation pulled in front of the window frame.

i should admittedly sacrifice more hours to learn nuances of vw, but let me ask a dumb question: where is this built in window object?

i try to desperately figure out how such 2d window representation as on above drawing can be done...

when you click on the insertion point you drag the point to the size you need.

There is one point for the opening, not a point for each end (sides) of the opening.

You will notice what is happening as you drag the insertion point.

how can i have the overlapping insulation part from above operations visible as a renderable solid in a side view/perspectives? all i see in any rendering is the window with its outline, the overlapped insulation part is transparent in 3d and renderings (practically non-existent), turning the architectural opening into a rough opening.

is there any setting for this?

to better illustrate the case:

1. the rendered wall with the window

2. wireframe appearance

3. the floor plan with a wall component overlapping the window frame.

the overlapping simply doesn't display in the renderings. does anybody know how to turn it on?

p.s. btw: how can i move the marker away from the window? -> edit: ok, i got it - what have i the handle for?

in this case what is the window-in-wall component handling for (apart from the 2d plan view)?

They don't exist in 3D as far as I know. Don't know why. Ran out of time before release?

I think I solved that once by drafting them in 3D and then grouping the window and the 3D insulation, that way everything moves if you move the window.

yes, it is a workaround. and also for the sections and 3d.

The ability to wrap Wall components is part of the coding of the NV Door and Window tools. It is not available outside of those tools which is why Windoor can't do it.

With the NV Door and Window tools the Wall Component wrapping only works in Plan view so can only be applied to the jambs of the openings. You can't wrap components at the head and sill of openings.

Mike this thread has actually become about the native tool, Roberts hash is the fact that they don't appear in 3D view though they are present in 2D......

i mean: are the extended external wall components visible in the elevation views now?
