If I had to design this Foundation toolset (and if I was capable) it would have the following functionality (these are also reasons why it should NOT be part of wall styles):
1. It would have the ability to be linked to the DTM and there would be fields that allow me to input; Min depth below grade (IE; frost depths to consider over here),
2. It would have a field for stepping bottom of wall for sloped sites (max field for vertical step and min field for horizontal run of each step). As an example here we are allowed to step a max of 2ft vertically and the minimum horizontal run between vertical drops is 2ft as well.
3. It would have an option to have a sill plate at the top; usually of dimensional lumber; 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 2x10 or maybe a custom size option.
4. It would have a "show footings" option with field to input height and width and alignment in relation to the fndt wall (ie; retaining walls usually have eccentric footings).
5. There would be a radio button to display a keyway in the footing or not.
6. There would be fields to show rebar in fndt walls and footings in live sections as 2d graphics with control to display horizontal and vertical spacing. Some may say this is not required for architecture but the fact is in Canada's National Bldg Code the rebar is spelled out for standard residential and small commercial, besides it's nice to show graphically that there should be some, even with the note "refer to Struc eng."
7. Show drain Tile radio button to show it in live bldg section, maybe option for diameter.
8. A hybrid 2d/3d control to enable us to show footings as dashed lines in top/plan view
Last but not least
8. When linked to a DTM; if there could be a way to incorporate a "site modifier" within the fndt tool that would control the DTM modifier to be set at a certain distance from the top of the fndt wall. Over here it's min 8" required from top of grade to top of fndt wall.
And I'd like some fries with that, hope this is not a pipe dream. Please everyone add your comments and I'll light some candles and make offerings to the gods of XYZ to make this happen.
