how to modify stair platform shape

Recommended Posts

Good solution, have to keep that one in mind.

If you modeled that bit as a slab you would have an extra line showing in plan, no?

It would be better to have the ability to edit the plan profile of the landing. I couple of extra options to the custom stair tool for the Platform-U option would achieve this.

You can hide sides of a slab like you can do with a poly shape.

You can also draw the platform as a whole and draw 2 stair objects.

The solution now shows one stair object with a landing and a slab to extend that landing, a better solution to look good in plan view and 3D is draw the landing as one slab object and draw one stair to it and one stair from it.

Problem with that approach is that if you raise the ceiling level then you have to fix two flights of stairs.

I like VW's stair tool for control of risers, treads etc but I think what it lacks is the ability to edit/change single components of the stair object, such as the landing in this case. (can do this easily in R___t).

Another example of when this type of editing capability would be beneficial - if you had a curved or chamfered tread on the bottom step.

Not if you bound your stairs and set the extra offset to the landing! Of course there will always be miner adjustments when the height of your floor changes, but that will always be the case because your floor opening needs to get bigger.
