dimension text moves when trying to move dimension line!

When I have a small dimension and want to pull / move the dimension line, and the text is larger or same size as the line, the text moves (as though it is in the foreground, and the line is behind the text box).

So I can't move small dimensions with out moving the text, then the line, then trying to move the text back to it's place. PLEASE HELP ME?!?!? It's driving me bonkers and wasting time!

In the Object Info Pallet, set the "Dim Off" to a higher value to extend the line. The text will remain the same distance from the line, but you can adjust that if needed by altering the "Text Off" value.

Thank you! I'll play with those two options - just setting a different Text Off value will let me drag the line nicely (had avoided it because my text looks awful as it is). Appreciate your help!
