designer190
I am looking for assistance please. I have a .MAX file of a light fitting I need into vectorworks. Would anyone be able to convert this for me or explain how? Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
Monadnoc
.MAX is a highly proprietary format used by Autodesk 3ds Max (formerly 3D Studio Max, formerly 3D Studio). Although it's the most popular modeling program out there, by far, I don't know of any 3D app that can import it. Autodesk has been much more secretive on the .max file format than their equally popular .dwg for CAD. I've looked all over, with no luck. I think you'll have to find someone who owns 3ds Max and have them save/export to a file format VW can import. It's other/original file format is .3ds, which is just the opposite - just about any 3d app can open that. So you'll have to re-save it in 3ds Max as .3ds. I think 3ds Max also exports .iges. If you find a way to convert a .max file without using 3ds Max, I'd love to hear how. Thanks. Monadnoc Quote Link to comment
