VW needs to be supported with such things as -

Question

Where can we get such things for VW?

VW company need to invest in real R&D and start to offer such libraries of THIER own doing.

Giving you such things as -

I can never find any cad stuff for VW. Any conversation of dwg details gives a (be polite) rather bad looking result.

I would agree we need more manufacturer specific libraries, but this should be offered by the manufacturers through VW. Yes VW should make the initial contact but it should be up to the Manufacturer do develop and offer (probably through VSS) these packages. They get the advertising and the spec out of this, not VW.

You are right and thus I fear it will not happen.

Perhaps a sub forum here offering up objects categorised in accordance with CISFBS system or similar construction based coding.

I say this, but typically with my rather restrictive ability, I would be more leaching rather then being able to offer anything up.

Be good to get this place as a leading source of such things, the more visitors might mean a little revenue for the hoisters/moderators.

Rather than individual vendors trying to work on this at an international scale, this really needs to happen via industry organisations that are independent of the BIM vendors at a national scale. This way national standards and typical sizes can be catered to, and objects can be standardised across BIM vendors, including the use of IFC.

In the UK, for instance, there is one being created by the NBS (which is owned by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) via its RIBA Enterprises subsidiary):

Suffice to say we don't use CISFBS in the UK, whatever that is.

It is an indexing system used in UK construction. This is the first place I have not seen it used in the library in house. I used to use this system until 4 years back.

I find it better than NBS as sometimes it is hard to put certain things under a sole NBS heading. However, I understand from NBS themselves there is due to be a massive overhaul and change in system for the ever pending NBS cloud system.

Exciting times.

I'll go with Uniclass, not opposed to it really.

I just noticed the most recent vernon of the metric handbook still uses the CI/SfB.

Uniclass sounds nice, reminds me of an old sues game I loved Uni Racers, clean, crisp and simple, hoping this will be the same. Certainly looks that way on an initial trawl through.

I fortunately do not have the job of doing such things in this office and glad of it to.

I am head down, put up and shut up, thats why I use VW rather than fight for something that would blatantly benefit the office. (Yet another VW rant).
