Bug Submit

Recommended Posts

Hi

Is it worth Bug Submitting? An example: I've Submitted the attached files explaining the full problem on 1 Nov 2011 and I've tested it recently with VW2012 SP3 and still nothing is done about it.

Therefore I ask, is it worth us Bug Submitting???

This is no wonder why vw seems to be a beta software. I think beta testers are letting the programmers know of issues but I think that NemV doesn't bother fixing them.

Sigh....this software had so much potential. :(

Jershaun what I'm suggesting is that you try and find out what combination it is that causes some objects to not get linked properly. Combinations that I can think of to test for are:

- Groups within Symbols.

- Symbols within Groups within Symbols.

- Symbols within Symbols.

If you can find out what the problem is then that gives you the opportunity to avoid doing that.

Note also that the Cinema4D link capability comes from Maxon and not from NV so your bug report should really be to Maxon. Also the likelihood of Maxon fixing the problem would be greater if you can demonstrate to them what causes it.

Hallo,

I did some tests with Jershauns File.

From my understanding everytime, we use Renderworks, VW is (in the backgorund) "Sending to C4D"

So.

Inside Of VW that process works.

Stored to an File, a lot of Jershauns Elements get Exported as Instances without a Reference Object.

Therefore, they don't have geometry.

The Symbols are really made of simple Elements. One Sphere or 3 Extrudes with 3 LOCI

- ungrouping the Parts inside the Symbols didn't help.

- Putting all Symbols on one Layer didn't help.

Then I duplicated some Symbols ( Space1000L and the connector Ball),

Deleted the Geometry inside the duplicate Symbol and drew new Geometry.

Then I replaced all the original Symbols by the new drawn duplicates, and

the Geometry, and all Instances are exported with correct references.

all the Gemotry shows in C4D

I would appreciate, if Dave Donely could explore Jershauns File, because

That's a very wired effect, and I would like to know what causes that.

It can cause "Hours of Work to be lost"

Thanks Horst for taking the time. Much appreciated.

Keep in mind this file is just a simplified version of other files I have. I have a library of Exhibition components including:

brochure stands

counter tops

culon system

exiframe

exilight

exiscreen

light fittings

maxima lite components

octonorm profiles

spaceline components (couple of which is in the above attached file)

z-line

Each of the above have numerous components within them and I can't spend time re-drawing them. If they are showing correctly and rendering in vw then they should be exported to c4d as well.

Anyway, not to forget my original post, it seems totally useless to post bugs here or through the official channels.

may be the Problem is from the same corner as Carls recent Post.

Saving custom Symbol librarys from Stock Components,

is a mayor issue for Stage-, Event- and Exhibition Industrie, that is clearly adressed by Spotlight

Just, that in this Case from within VW the Components and Symbols look perfect.

And I tried also a lot of my own and really complex Symbol Libraries without that broken reference issue.
