willofmaine
Is it possible to set the height for door hardware? I mean without editing the hardware's symbol. And how come when I do edit the hardware's symbol ("Lever 01 Rose") it's at some random distance (about 2 1/8") below Z=0, yet places at some random distance above the floor (about 3'-3 7/8"...) when associated with a door?? Oh, I just realized, the hardware must place at the middle of the door's height (42" in the case of a 7' door) such that 42" - 2 1/8" = 3'-3 7/8". In what way is any of this logical? Shouldn't the height of hardware be with respect to the floor, and not vary with the different heights of different doors?.......................... Quote Link to comment
Chris D
such that 42" - 2 1/8" = 3'-3 7/8" My point entirely. Ooops wrong thread. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
It is possible. You do have to (duplicate and) edit the door hardware.... As far as I can figure out, it's necessary to put the new symbol into the default hardware file.... I did it a couple drawings ago and it worked. But there must be a better way... mk Quote Link to comment
willofmaine
I think there are two sets of default library files, one in Applications, and one in the user library (which, as it turns out in OS 10.7, is hidden (unless you hold down Option while clicking on Go in the Finder's menu bar... or so I've read)). I think the content of files in either location are available when using the applicable tool. It seems far from ideal having to create multiple versions of one hardware set simply for the sake of accommodating different height doors... Quote Link to comment
