I've contacted Vectorworks sales staff and they would officially transfer the license to you, so it's completely official. It's priced so that you would save a few hundred dollars upgrading to 2012, over buying 2012 straight away. They will include a couple of manuals with the package as well. Post me directly if you have any questions, or want to arrange to purchase the license.
