Nemetschek Vectorworks to Host Biannual Event in Washington, D.C.

COLUMBIA, Md. (March 5, 2012) ? Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. is proud to serve as host of this Spring?s buildingSMART International Implementation Support Group (ISG) meeting. In addition to bi-weekly teleconferences, in-person ISG meetings are held twice a year to discuss the use of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) for the exchange and sharing of Building Information Models (BIM) among different software products.

Nemetschek Vectorworks? BIM specialist Jeffrey Ouellette, Assoc. AIA, serves as deputy chair of ISG, a position to which he was appointed last fall by buildingSMART International?s International Technical Management committee. ?These meetings are an essential part of buildingSMART?s efforts to improve the software marketplace implementation of IFC, which is essential to the interoperability and collaboration that openBIM affords,? said Ouellette. ?The members of the group represent a diverse range of perspectives, and we look forward to lively, productive discussions. I?d also like to thank Deke Smith for allowing us to hold the meeting at the National Institute of Building Sciences? office.?

The meeting will be held Monday and Tuesday, March 5 and 6, at the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), 1090 Vermont Avenue NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005. Participants from eight countries will include representatives from Nemetschek AllPlan, Bentley, Autodesk, DDS-CAD, Nemetschek Scia and others, as well as Dana K. ?Deke? Smith, FAIA, Executive Director of the buildingSMART alliance; Charles Eastman, Professor and Director of the Georgia Tech Digital Building Laboratory; and Rasso Steinmann, Chair of the ISG.
