TiTaNiuM sAMuRai
Turn on 'Snap to Object' constraint.Draw a circle.Start a line, with the first point either inside or outside the circle. Hold down the Shift (Mac) and take the 'rubber band' to the circle, such that your line would be perpendicular to that circle. You get a 'Object/Tangent' cursor cue. It's not tangent; it's perpendicular. Quote Link to comment
Guest
There was a bug on this in VW 9.5.0. The perpendicular would be a tangent cursor cue and the tangent would be the perpendicular. Are you still experiencing this in VW 9.5.1 ? Quote Link to comment
TiTaNiuM sAMuRai
Actually, drawing a line FROM a circle, tangent to the curve, reads correctly as Tangent. I don't know how to make a line from elsewhere end up tangent to the circle. Perpendicular TO the circle reads as Tangent. Quote Link to comment
Guest
Sure enough, you still get the tangent cursor cue. It's not as bad as it was in VW 9.5.0 though. When you get the tangent cursor cue, the perpendicular cursor cue should be one snap to the left or right if you have the default snap settings. You should only be getting the tangent at the exact section of the circle where a quarter arc would be. This might be because a circle is really treated as an arc in VW. I will discuss this with the engineers and see what they have to say. ___-----I talked to the engineer. It seems to be a bug in the hints. If you draw a line using the perpendicular hint, and draw the same line using the tangent hint, you get the same results. Granted tangent is not the correct hint, the line is still the correct line and you should always get a perpendicular hint to the left or right of the tangent hint.
