Zeynep Posted January 25, 2012 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Dear all I'm trying to import an 3ds model into Vectorworks 2012,but it looks like a triangular or a mesh ,even after rendering.Unfortunately, does not seem realistic.What is the problem? Please help Quote Link to comment
billtheia Posted January 25, 2012 Share Posted January 25, 2012 That might just be a smoothing problem. Have you tried adjusting the 3d settings in Vectorworks Preferences (see attached?) Or It could be that the models wasn't well built well in the first place. Have you seen the file in studio or max? Quote Link to comment
Zeynep Posted January 26, 2012 Author Share Posted January 26, 2012 while importing 3ds model,having the same problem each time (all of the 3ds object).I used it previously in 3d Max,the end is quite excellent. I tried adjusting 3d settings as in the picture,but the same problem. The original image is attached.I can not send as 3ds file. Thanks Quote Link to comment

Farookey Posted January 26, 2012 Share Posted January 26, 2012 Hi... Try this, and let us know... I am guessing it brings the geometry in as a group. And inside that group there should be thousands (if not more) 3D polygons or 1 mesh object, depending on how you imported it. Convert the 3D polygons to a mesh object if they aren't already. In your Document Prefs, enable 'Mesh Smoothing' leaving the default crease angle (70). Now render, and see if that is any better. The crease angle can be adjusted later to achieve the desired result.
