In a similar incident, I went through some hell trying to get a worksheet to to give me true lengths and widths of 3d rectangles I had rotated in space. I could get the worksheet to only report correct dimensions IF the object was aligned to parallel to the screen plane. The dims would change as you switched to different views. So it seems that the tape measure is aware of true dims no matter what your orientation, which means the program is, but worksheets don't have this capability. Quote Link to comment
