bcd
I've long since abandoned the forum search, preferring instead Google site search because it works. eg - a search for eps returns the dreaded 'There are no results for your query. Please try a broader range of search criteria.' really? Quote Link to comment
cad@sggsa
I LIKE this post Thanks Quote Link to comment
AndiACD
Yep! Me too. i gave up on it years ago . . . . . . Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
I agree. The folks at Google are the rulers in this arena. Heck, even an Apple Support search won't return relevant results sometimes because of a small typo or whatever... I wish everyone could just use Google's great (but also sort of scary - in a Big Brother way) search code(s)... Or do I?? Hmmm... Quote Link to comment
Bruce Kieffer
I totally agree. It would be nice if Help was actually helpful too. Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
So the wish is(?): Get a Forum Search that works. I agree! I keep trying to use and make sense of the Forum Search and Advanced Search. Never with much success. Is anyone out there able to make it work? and how about that spell checker? "Vectorworks" is flagged red. -B Quote Link to comment
bcd
To use Google: search words site:http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ Quote Link to comment
Benson Shaw
Right, and thanks, bcd. Also, as much as I long for the software and this forum to work perfectly, and as much as I condone the intent of this wish whenever it comes up here, the wish is likely misplaced. UBB.threads is not created or maintained by Nemetschek. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UBB.threads -B Quote Link to comment
bcd
Ah, I hadn't even considered that. From that entry "Currently, Version 8 (of UBB threads) is on hold due to it being incomplete and needing more work." I guess we, and NV, are beholden - unless the forum is ported to a different architecture. Quote Link to comment
bc
Then I suppose the thread topic should be a wish that NNV find better "forum architecture" assuming it is out there. Several years ago there was a similar discussion and someone had shown how to effectively search with Google. But I searched the forum and could only find this: techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=115667&Searchpage=12&Main=24468&Words=google&Search=true#Post115667 Quote Link to comment
AndiACD
I totally agree. It would be nice if Help was actually helpful too. Another one we totally agree on Bruce! i have never reached a satisfactory solution to anything i ask the "Help" in VW. You'd think that the fact that Nemets have bothered to make use of something like Air to run the Help they'd at least have taken the trouble to see if a Search got an expected result. Having said that, it doesn't give much of a result with Photoshop either. So maybe it's Air that is the "spanner in the works". Edited January 17, 2012 by AndiACD Quote Link to comment
