JessycaFrederick Posted December 25, 2011 Share Posted December 25, 2011 I'm using VW2012 Education Version on Mac OS 10.5.8. I don't know anything about GIS (yet) and I am trying to download/import files that will let me have a giant map of Los Angeles to work on top of. I've found many free shapefiles to download, but when I attempt to import them into VW, nothing visible changes on screen (I can see a new layer has been created, but nothing in the layer). I'm pretty sure this is because I have no idea how to use GIS files and I'm brand new to VW. If anyone can give me a push in the right direction, I'd be grateful. Other than Import Shapefile, what do I need to do to be able to use these files in VW (and most importantly, see what I imported)? Thank you so much! Quote Link to comment

Sometimes when the files come in, they are at a far different scale than you might already be in that you may need to "back-up" to see what all mat have been brought in. Quote Link to comment
