Nemetschek Vectorworks to Participate in BIM Sessions at Ecobuild America

COLUMBIA, Md. (December 5, 2011) ? Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc. is proud to participate in several Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Information Technology educational sessions at this week?s Ecobuild? America conference in Washington, D.C.

Robert Anderson, Vice President of Integrated Practice, will speak about the geometric component of SPie as a participant in the Specifiers' Properties information exchange (SPie) presentation on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., which will be led by SPie chair William East from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers? Engineer Research and Development Center. SPie is a collaborative project between the buildingSMART alliance and the Construction Specification Institute focused on harmonizing and regularizing the minimum sets of properties for building model objects.

?We believe the SPie initiative presents a fantastic opportunity for consistent and complete delivery of building information throughout the design, construction and operation life-cycle of the facility,? said Anderson. ?Nemetschek Vectorworks fully supports the development of consensus standards for building product data.?

In addition, Nemetschek Vectorworks? BIM specialist Jeffrey Ouellette, Assoc. AIA, will present at the following sessions:

? Interoperability and IFC Awareness (S104), Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. This presentation is recap of discussions from the AIA Building Connections Congress and will focus on the progress of current BIM standards developments, including Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), the International Framework for Dictionaries (IFD) Library, SPie, the Georgia Tech/Precast Concrete Institute openBIM project, and the current Simergy GUI project for EnergyPlus.

? Technology in Architectural Practice (TAP) Education and Research Update (S304), Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 1:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. A vendor panel will discuss ?Professional BIM Education? and describe their companies? efforts to educate customers about BIM.

? TAP Townhall (S404), Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. This session will provide an overview of TAP activities, resources, webinars and Local Discussion Groups, as well as BIMStorm, the 2012 BIM Awards, 2012 at AIA National and other activities.

? Interoperability - The Facts not the Fiction (S508), Wednesday, Dec. 7 from 10:15 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. This session will include a multifaceted vendor panel discussion of issues surrounding interoperability standards, implementations and usage.

Rubina Siddiqui, Assoc. AIA, Architectural Industry Specialist at Nemetschek Vectorworks, will present Collaborative Solutions for BIM Interoperability Using IFC (T2T6) on Thursday, Dec. 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. This session will explain the use of IFC technology and collaborative workflows in design.
