bcd
Is there an equivalent to the ID tool in VW Spotlight? Quote Link to comment
MrTemplate
Hello bcd; no doubt many others understand your question without hesitation, but i don't. What's the "ID tool"? is it in one of the palettes? or part of a drop-down menu? part of a workspace? TIA for your guidance, Shelley Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Steve I'm pretty sure Brian is talking about the ID Label Tool in the Dims/Notes tool palette. It is often used to add labels to windows and doors, but it can be used with other VW objects with attached data. I've never been able to make the ID Label tool do anything interesting with objects other than Windows and Doors. I'm not sure if Brian is asking if there is a way to auto increment fields in a way similar to the ID Label tool or apply leaders to labels... or if there is a way to combine the ID Label tool with LLMs? The LLM is a pretty useful tool. I've often wished that the LLM could be applied to objects other than Spotlight instruments. Check out the new Spaces label interface. It looks remarkably similar to LLMs! mk Quote Link to comment
RickR
I found a "legacy" label tool. It auto increments a number surrounded with a polygon. I'm not using it anymore, but it should still be hiding in the workspace editor. Quote Link to comment
bcd
Thanks guys, What I was hoping there was an equivalent of ID tool in Spotlight which I could use to attach data to objects on the drawing similar but simpler than the Label Legend Manager and avoiding the need to convert the object to a lighting instrument. RickR
You might try an object. I've done a couple of things with the old text in symbol approach. From the records I can generate tables and counts. Quote Link to comment
bcd
An excellent suggestion Rick, this will get the job done. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
