mar schrammeyer
I made a slab style with concrete hatch fill for slab & edge thickening and put a 10mm floor cover with solid fill on top, mainly to hide the concrete hatch in plan but the hatch wins for some reason any ideas? Dieter @ DWorks
With a slab, the components and the view in 2D plan is controlled seperately: - In the components dialog of the slab, you can set the components attributes. These will show in 3D and in sections. - The class and/or attributes of the slab as a whole tells VW how to show the slab in 2D/Plan view. So set the attributes of the slab to a solid fill, or give it a different class. For this reason, and also because other objects react this way, we have sometimes 2 classes for the same thing, but the one is for the 3D and section attributes, and the other is for the 2D representation, like: 'Slab - Tile finish' and Slab - 'Tile finish VA'. Those classes needs te be together because we set the texture and the tile fill that belongs together. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Vectorworks needs the ability to define two sets of attributes for all objects: - View attributes. - Section attributes. The section attributes should only be visible when an object is actually in section. Vectorworks also needs to be smarter so that in Plan views the correct wall view shows in each context. The user should be able to define the height of the theoretical 'plan cut plane' and walls should represent themselves accordingly: - If the top of the wall is below the 'plan cut plane' then the Wall view attributes should be used. - If the 'plan cut plane' intersects the wall then the Wall section attributes should be used. - If the bottom of the wall is above the 'plan cut plane' the wall should show in plan as dashed with no fill. Really nice idea! Only the last thing that for walls above they show with no fill, dashed line. I always represents beams and walls above as a dashed line with a semi-transperant fill. I think VW needs to be able to do this too, or just let us setup the tree view attributes. Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
All these issue can be found in stair PIOs if they get the stair right/complete, walls/slabs/windows/doors etc should be easy..... Quote Link to comment

What's the problem with the stairs then? I find them easy to use and to set the attributes. Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
That wasn't really my point ( I haven't had the chance to test it yet) I just meant that most PIO BIM hurdles are present in the stair PIO and if this works to perfection then other PIOs should be easy to solve along the same lines.......
