billtheia
If I render a scene without a background in VW2012, reflections of the sky in windows is black. In VW2011 the reflections were white, as they should be. See attachements. Is anyone else seeing this? Am I missing something? Quote Link to comment
billtheia
No responses. Bummer. Just and update. I've discovered that I can get the effect that I want (white reflections in windows) by creating a simple white RW background. Weird thing is, though, that if I use the simple, non-HDRI background and then select a different HDRI background for lighting (but not to be seen in image,) I get black reflections in the windows again - as if there is no visible background. I've submitted a support request through service select. We'll see what they have to say. Quote Link to comment
billtheia
Here's the response that I got from VW: "This change to the way reflections are handled when there is no Renderworks background was implemented to resolve some rendering inconsistencies with image props and cinema4D translation. So the correct workflow is to add a white background as you mentioned in the community board." Quote Link to comment
