Focus Point Shape - Spotlight 2011

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out how to import custom 'Focus Point Shapes' into the drop down menu of the focus point tool plug-in.

Any thoughts?

Joe,

You can add your custom focus point shape symbols to

...\\Libraries\Defaults\Focus Points\

You can either add your own file or add to the existing file.

Once you add the shapes you will need to restart Vectorworks in order for the list to update.

Thanks for your note. good to see where the Focus Points live. when i examined the Focus Points file, though, i couldn't find the octagon shape for the "standard hybrid" focus point. is that in a different location? and is that created in 1:1 scale too?

The Octagon shape is created automatically and can not be edited.

Shapes should be drawn actual size, it does not matter what scale.

If you want a different size Octagon you can just draw one and add it to the file. If you want to use it as your default shape you can change the defaults in the preference dialog of the focus point insertion tool.

I am using VW2013 - the Chinese version.

Every time when I try to change the shape of focus points, i.e.

..\\Libraries\Defaults\Focus Points\

the software crashes.

Jennie,

I would contact tech support directly. It is most likely an issue related to the Chinese version as others are not experiencing this problem.
