Mitchell Brooks
You can make your own bay window from three shorter than normal sections of walls, insert the windows, raise the walls up and finish off the bottom and top (or roof as per your image). A bit of work but it can be done. See attachment; it will give you the idea. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Mitch your method only works where the window frame depth is the thickness of the wall. It does not work when the wall thickness is greater than the window frame depth. The latter being the building context for many of us in the world. It needs to be fixed. Quote Link to comment
Mitchell Brooks
Sorry, I don't understand that. It is possible to have the window frames less than the wall depth, even in my example. What is it you are trying to achieve exactly? Your first post mentioned "corners at the ends" - can you clarify that? Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Mitchell you can for a projecting bay window as shown in the image. If the thick walls form the bay and the windows are inserted into those walls you can't. See attached image and Vw 2011 file. The problem with having corners at only one end is marked with a red asterix. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Clarification: The bay window at the top uses Vectorworks Window objects and the 2D and 3D wall problem occurs at the right hand jamb because these can only be corner windows at one end. The bay window at the bottom uses Windoor objects and there is no problem because these can be corner windows at both ends. The Vectorworks Window objects should have the ability to have corners at both ends. Quote Link to comment
Patrick Fritsch
Uh Funny, I bought Pickup's VW 2012 Architect book and he's peddling WinDoor for 10 whole pages...that's ridiculous, even if their your buddy's from Oz. I paid to learn how to use VW 2012 Architect NOT a plugin that I don't have. Quote Link to comment
taoist
Try this site. I found my old Andersen Windows files from version 9. No Bay or Bow windows. http://www.andersenwindows.com/servlet/Satellite/Architects/Page/Architects_Detail/1091556950140 I also checked out Marvin, Weathershield, libraries in Objects-Building Architecture & Interior. It is surprising we do not have these window types. Quote Link to comment
