viewports: changing class attributes for specific viewports

I am trying to make my wall layer appear dashed on my foundation plan. I have followed the instructions in vw help, but it is not working. Suggestions?

Use classes. Make sure that "Use at Creation" is checked in the Class Set up. Then you can use Viewport Class Overrides...

Still wont work for me.

I have a class called "old walls" in the document class list I have "use at creation" checked.

I go to properties for my viewport and change the class line properties. What looks like a blue crop window appears around this class source icon. I click preview and nothing changes. I click OK and nothing changes. I tried checking class overrides and class visibilities on that page...no luck.

What am I missing?

Hi Sarah

As well as use at creation make sure all of the line and fill attributes for the walls are set to use class style otherwise they will ignore the viewport overide.

Update:

I tried dominics suggestion again and it appears that when I tried to change many lines to class atributes in bulk it didn't work. This DID work on one small line....so I think I am good to go, except that I need to figure out why my change of attributes didn't work the first time.

Hi Sarah

If you are using a wall style to make your foundation walls the wall attributes in the wall style preference pane should be set to use class style. If you are using a wall style the normal attributes pane will be greyed out

If among your bulk selection of lines there are objects with attributes set by style then the operation to change all of the lines via the attributes pallet will not work. These objects will need to be filtered out first
