Kizza
I have drawn several shapes and added to surface to create one shape. I now need to edit the finished polyline to smooth it out. Using the drawing tools only seem to create new objects - can they be used to "edit" a polyline? For example, can I use any of the arc tools to smooth out a lump in a polyline as a result of the Add Surface command? Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted July 31, 2011 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 31, 2011 2D Reshape? You can use this to move vertices, add or remove them, but also transform them into different types of vertex. Quote Link to comment
Kizza
Tasmin, that helps a lot. So we can edit the vertices but cant use any of the drawing tools over the top of the existing lines? I might be looking for Illustrator functionality here.. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted July 31, 2011 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted July 31, 2011 You can use drawing tools over the top, but they will not affect the existing lines. Just draw new objects as you have experienced. Yes - it's not quite like Illustrator, but you can do a lot with the 2D Reshape tool - explore the options. For example, you can add a new vertex at an existing midpoint, etc. But you can't just click anywhere on the edges - midpoints and endpoints only. Have fun! Quote Link to comment
bcd
You can also draw a polyline on top and use it to clip away offending parts of your polyline. Quote Link to comment
