MogTheSmilingCat
When I have a building with elements at different heights in a wall - for example doors at floor level and clerestorey windows up near ceiling level, plan view shows all of the elements on top of each other. I can't find any way of getting a plan "at door level" in a viewport - which for simplicity omits the high level windows. Is there any way of doing so? Many thanks Phil B Quote Link to comment
mar schrammeyer
split your layer in two, bottom one fixed height to say 2400mm upper layer with clerestory windows bottom z height @ 2400 show both in elevations and switch off upper layer in plan view Quote Link to comment
bc
How about just classing the clerestory and turning off it's visibility for the plan view? Edited July 2, 2011 by bc Quote Link to comment
mar schrammeyer
I am mainly familiar with windoor and there is a clerestory display setting as in the window tool, but say the clerestory window is wider then the lower window or door it will mask it partly and might be mistaken for side lights or leave gaps in the wall. MogTheSmilingCat
Thanks for the suggestions, folks. As noted, simply classing the clerestorey windows uniquely enables them to be made invisible, but the wall openings still appear, such that it appears a complete mess. The suggestion of splitting the wall into two horizontal "bands" looks like the best workaround - it's very much a workaround, though! Quote Link to comment
VincentCuclair
Remember, in relation to this, that it is also possible to 'move to front' and 'send to back' objects that are superimposed on one another... together with unique classing this could solve some problems........another solution could be to model a hybrid for the c-window with the correct representation in 2D.... Guest Wes Gardner
You can also "take a section of a section" and thus, control the height of the "cutting plane. First create a VIEWPORT (not a Section Viewport) and place it on a Sheet Layer. Select FRONT view. Now cut a SECTION VIEWPORT looking DOWN at any height and Voila! Quote Link to comment
Kizza
Surely there has to be a simpler way to control the viewing range of the cutting plane. Where is the Top/Plan cutting plane height controlled in VW? Quote Link to comment
michaelk
I've found it simpler to just chop the wall below the upper windows and make new walls that start at the top of the chopped walls and contain the upper windows. Place the higher wall on a new layer. Turn that layer off in the floor plan. hth mk Quote Link to comment
mar schrammeyer
Tried your suggestion Wes problem is the resulting section VP will not be in top plan wireframe Quote Link to comment
Itchy
Not exactly what your after Mar, but have a go and change the viewport projection from orthogonal to perspective and have a play with the perspective depth, normal or higher seems to work for me. Quote Link to comment
ilimatiare
Is there really no way to set the height of the cutting plane for Top/Plan projection? This seems like a huge oversight if so Edited March 11, 2019 by ilimatiare Quote Link to comment
