Jayden
Hi, i Have recently started using cinema 4d with vectorworks (this week) and am having a slight problem. When i exporrt as cinema 4d file in vectorworks, the file created is actually a Quicktime Player Document meaning that i cannot open it in C4d. Please help! Thanks, Jayden Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Tamsin Slatter Posted June 26, 2011 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 26, 2011 Hi Jayden Do you have Renderworks? If so, you can use the Send to CINEMA 4D command on the file menu to open your model in CINEMA 4D. Alternatively, File>Export>Export CINEMA 4D (3D only) produces a .c4d file that you can open in CINEMA. Quote Link to comment
Jayden
Hi Tamsin, Yes i do have renderworks. I am trying the steps you mentioned above but the issue is when i try to export as a c4d. the file created is a Quicktime file of 4KB in size... any clues? Thanks, Jayden Quote Link to comment
Monadnoc
Hmmm, I have Cinema 4D and I don't have a problem at all. Works perfect. The file created should be a .VW4D file. There must be something going wrong. Have you tried using the "Send to Cinema 4D" command instead of the "Export Cinema 4D" option. That's what I always use, and every thing works as slick as can be. I'm very happy with it. You need C4D installed on the same machine as VW to have "Send to .." available. Monadnoc Quote Link to comment
Diamond
If you 'right click' or 'control click' on the file you should be able to select another app besides Quicktime to open the file. Or you can 'Get Info' on the file, you can change the default app that opens that particular file. Quote Link to comment
Jayden
I have tried both exporting and sending to with no result. When i tried the open with option c4d still does not recognise the file... Weird Quote Link to comment
Jayden
....(more news) after a bit of mucking around i managed to export as a c4d by copying the layers i wanted into a new project and then exporting from there. I must have something corrupt in my current project. Thanks, Jayden Quote Link to comment
