Interiorcad xs

Interiorcad xs - is an addition to Vectorworks, and it makes creating cabinets easy, and flexible.

I have noticed lately that I have been teaching more architects,

interior designers, and kitchen designers how to use this powerful

plugin.

This is really more that just a plug-in, there are a whole suite of

tools and commands that make designing cabinetry both fast and

powerful.

If you need to create complex cabinets, interiorcad xs will save you

heaps of time, and it will improve your rendering and presentations.

See your local Vectorworks reseller for pricing and installation, but

see me for interiorcad xs training and manuals - http://www.archoncad.co.nz/manuals/manuals/movie.html .

Snaps on, Snaps off...

By default Vectorworks 2010 and 2011 have one snap turned off that I

find useful, Nearest Point on Edge. I like to activate this snap

because I find it useful...

DropBox

Dropbox is great addition to your computer. It is an online storage

facility that allows me to store files, or share folders online. I

collaborate with several people and we use dropbox to share the

files.

I have even used dropbox with workgroup referencing in Vectorworks to

share the project.

You can get 2GB of free on line storage, I use dropbox all the time.

Rendering in Vectorworks

Using the lighting, and setting the render options are important to

get good results. There are a lot of options to lighting, indirect

lighting, environment lighting, and there are several rendering

modes. What should you be using? When should you use these options?

The Vector-workout subscription will be looking at rendering this

month (see below). I am currently writing the manual for this, and it

will be on line for subscribers in about a week.

Vector-workout Subscription

The subscription service continues to surprise me. In the last month

we have uploaded files to help you with H1 and E2 calculations,

Texture files, and a file with quick access to preferences, along

with some new plug-in tools. The great thing about this is that as

these tools and files are created, they are added to the subscriber

website so they can be downloaded. These tools and additions are not

just for Vectorworks 2011, there are versions for 2010 and 2009.

We have some great sessions coming up in the next couple months:

June : Lighting and Rendering in Vectorworks 2011

The new rendering engine in Vectorworks 2011 is so subtle, you need

to learn how to get the best from it.

July : Drawing a Paving Plan

This looks like this would be just for landscapers, but don't be

fooled. We will be looking at viewports, hatches and tiles, so

everyone will get something from this session.

The online booking page is now live. So, if you are a subscriber,

book now. - http://www.archoncad.co.nz/cadsupport/workshop.html
