Hi,

trivial newbie question? Can't I quote a 3d draw?

I tried to draw a cube and quote one of its side, but when I rotate the draw, the quote doesn't rotate with the cube.

I use vectorworks basic 2010.

What do you mean by 'quote'?

Do you mean but type onto it? If so you need to set the text onto a layer plane.

-Set the 'working plane' onto one of the cube faces using the working plane tool.

-In the drop down menu (at the top of the window) select working plane.

-Select the text and use the OIP and select working plane.

You can convert the text using 'Truetype to Polyline' under the text menu, if you ungroup the result you can then extrude the type.

with quote, I mean to show how long is a side (ex. 3,45 cm).

I think you mean dimension.

You can create a dimension in 3D by setting the working plane (using the working plane tool) onto the face of the object you want to dimension.

Then use the drop-down menu for layer/screen selection and select 'working plane'.

Now when you use the dimension tool the dimension will be set to a 3D plane and rotate with the object.
