beanus
I'm trying to export a drawing into sketchup, there are four layers in the drawing but Vectorworks will only export one of them, it doesn't matter which layer I've selected Vectorworks always reverts to the same layer & then exports that.....bloody confused of Taunton Quote Link to comment
beanus
further to my previous email I managed to save the 2011 file as a 2009 file via 2010 & I have now managed to export all the layers to sketchup.... what the bloody hell is going on with 2011 it's falling apart!!! GWS
I having to use a similar workflow for export DXF's. 2009, or even 2008 is much more stable on many issues especially exporting. Quote Link to comment
Eoin R
Beanus. I have come across the same issue and reported this as a bug which NNA confirmed. You are unable to export to 3DS in Versions 2010 onwards but it does work in Version 2008 & 2009. The lack of the ability to export to 3DS is a major issue for us. One general question is will NNA fix this for Version 2010/2011 or will the repair of this bug live on a to do list for some future version. I think NNA should sort this out now for current users and not be kicked down the line. Quote Link to comment
CipesDesign
I have a vague memory of how one might overcome the "one layer" export to 3ds: by first creating a Design Layer Viewport (formerly known as a Layer Link). Then try export 3ds with that being the active layer... Not totally sure about this, but perhaps it's worth a try? Quote Link to comment
propstuff
it does work peter, but the multiple objects get turned into one single mesh. The export treats the viewport as 1 object. You have to make a separate viewport for each component if they are to stay separate Quote Link to comment
