RoyceChisnall
Is there any easy way to create ridge capping/valleys etc.. for a roof? there should be generic options in the roof object eg: Tile type capping, steel type capping... Quote Link to comment
D Wood
Maybe you should put it on the wishlist. Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
It can be done this way: - Use the Extract tool to extract the ridge and hip lines. - Move these extracted lines up in the Z direction so they are clear of the roof surface. - Use Extrude Along Path with a profile to model the ridges and hips. - Use the Split tool to tidy up the ends of each Extrude as required. To prevent time intensive rework this would best be done once the roof form is finalised. Quote Link to comment
Farookey
Hi... It all depends on how much detail you are looking at. An easy solution (which I have used in the past for a quick rendered visualization of a house)... Use the ROOF FACE tool - create the polygonal shape in plan view of the length of the ridge (or valley) capping, and pivot the roof face at the same point as your roof's bearing height. This can be done for all faces of the actual roof, and can be easily edited if needed. The capping (roof face) should be raised to sit on top of the actual roof. Obviously, the thickness and roof type should be chosen accordingly. Hope this is helpful... Quote Link to comment
mike m oz
Good solution Farookey. Your method would be quicker to do and modify than the method I suggested. Quote Link to comment
