VWUser2335
I'm completely stumped. I'm constantly getting "self-intersecting geometry" errors when trying to extrude 2D objects. This includes: -polylines -2D polylines created with the "bucket" mode -imported 2D geometries -rotated rectangles Anyone have an idea? This is really slowing my work flow down. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Could attach a file here with an example? Quote Link to comment
VWUser2335
I'm attaching a file. The green objects extrude fine, the others don't. (At least on my machine) I've included a -Polyline -Polygon -Rectangle that all don't extrude. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
The arcs are doubling back on themselves. Double click on a polyline with an arc. Notice all the extra vertices on the one side. switch to delete vertex mode and delete the extra vertices hth mk Quote Link to comment
VWUser2335
Michael, thanks for the idea. Just tried your suggestion. There was one extra vertex in the polyline. I deleted it but that didn't solve the issue. I still couldn't extrude it. And what about the rectangle at the top right? If you decompose it's four lines. Quote Link to comment
michaelk
On the polylines with the arc, make sure the polyline is closed and it has only 6 vertices. The rectangles extruded on the first try. In the attached file I just deleted the vertices near the edges of the arcs and it worked.... If that doesn't work, sometimes it helps to decompose and compose. Not sure why... hth mk Quote Link to comment
VWUser2335
Yes, decomposing helps. But it's very slow, especially when you're trying to extrude hundreds of polylines. It's frustrating. Michael, thanks for you help! Quote Link to comment
