Avoid triangle line when importing 3D .dwg object into Vectorworks 2011?

I searched all over the web and couldn't find a post addressing this problem. Is it just me or no one else has this problem before? I receive many .DWG files from clients. When I tried to import them into Vectorworks to take dimensions and such, objects come in as meshes with billion of diagonal lines across the surfaces. It is not the case when I imported the same .DWG file into 3D Studio Max. Does anyone have a solution for this? Many thanks!

It seems to me that the boxes were made as surface models and not as solid models. 3D studio max is also from Autodesk so it is no surprise that it has little problems with .dwg files.

Surface models may get triangulated when importing into vectorworks, I have the same problem.

You are right, VW will triangulate surfaces. I do know there is a command in Cinema 4D to remove them when importing 3DS format models, but I am not sure that this can be achieved this in VW.
