Jeff B
Must be doing something very basic very wrong - ? Trying to understand how object selection works with unified view on or off. I thought I understood that Show/Snap/Modify Others (layer options) would *not* work with Unified View turned on. But I seem to be finding just the opposite - it works with Unified View turned on but does not work when it's turned off. What am I missing? Quote Link to comment
michaelk
Hi Jeff Your observations are correct. To select an object on another layer certain conditions have to exist: 1. Layer Option set to "Show/Snap Others" or "Show/Snap/Modify Others" 2. All layers in question have to be the same scale. 3. All layers in question have to be in the same view. Unified View assures that condition 3 exists. great to have you back mk Quote Link to comment
Jeff B
Thanks MK - so as a beginner I must say I can't see any real reasons *not* to work in unified view then, are there times it's best not to? Great to be back! -JB Quote Link to comment
michaelk
I almost never turn unified view off. One exception is when using DLVPs on other layers in other views to show alternate views of the current layer live while drawing. But that's hardly an everyday occurrence : ) mk Quote Link to comment
