Drawings setup for 2d elevations

If you draw your building using walls, doors, windows and roofs, vectorworks will do a lot of the 3D modeling for you. When you set up the layer heights correctly, walls will have the correct height. The doors and windows have dialog boxes where you type in the height and width, and set the arrangment for sashes. Roofs can cause some challanges, but the are really flexible.

If you haven't looked at the Architect Tutorial Manual, then you should. It works through a project in 3D, creating the elevations from the 3D model. If you have vecotrworks 2008, there is a manual on my web site. If you have a newer version of vectorworks, go to this site:
