Rossford
Playing around more with 2011, I notice that unlike previous versions, the polylines, rectangles, etc. do not show a line while drawing them, just the vertices you click. When I double click to end the operation, then the line work shows up. I took a quick look through the VW and document preferences to see where I might set that to have lines visible during drawing, but cannot find a relevant setting. I believe this is something simple I am missing in settings...any help to be had out there from the gurus? Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
This shouldn't be happening. If you create a new file does it still happen? Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
There is a known bug with the Rounded Rectangle tool when zoomed in close (around 500%) that shows this. Quote Link to comment
Rossford
Ray, No, a brand new file doesn't do it, but I had transferred my template file from VW2010 over to 2011 and it happens there. Quote Link to comment
monkey
i am having the same problems, but have noticed that the line is actually white while drawing, so you can see it if you are drawing over a base of some sort, but not when drawing normally. we have transfered our templates from 2008, not sure if this has caused problems, i hope not, dont want to have to rebuild them Quote Link to comment
Rossford
Based on Ray's post, I am going back and it is only the one class I use most (contour lines) that has this problem. All others draw normally. I did edit this class after creation and will try to recreate a new class to see if I can rid the bug. The color of the line is magenta, but I will try to see if it comes up white for some reason..... Quote Link to comment
Rossford
Problem solved by deleting and recreating the class. I am not sure if I didn't save changes appropriately, or what. But, for some reason the line work just wouldn't show up there. Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Could you post your template here that shows the problem? Quote Link to comment
Rossford
Ray, Here is Friday's version of it, which exhibitg the problems in all the classes I checked. Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
I'm getting the same behavior. Do you mind if I file a bug with your file? Quote Link to comment
Rossford
Not at all. FYI, it doesn't happen in a revised file as of today. I do recall resetting the contour class, but in your file, they all show up as no line while drawing. I can't see anything in the settings that would cause that, but in the newer template version they changed back to normal. If you figure anything out, let me know! Quote Link to comment
Ray Libby
Will do, thanks. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted September 27, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 27, 2010 I've been having this problem as well and just discovered that the current line weight seems to effect it. I noticed that a line of 0.05mm has the problem, but 0.13mm does not. When you have the problem look at the active line weight (or the active class attribute LW if you use class attributes) to see if this may be the issue. Quote Link to comment
Rossford
Matt, I played around some more and I have the same situation, with no ryhme or reason I can yet figure out. The line is white in some classes and thicknesses, the assigned color in others. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee Matt Panzer Posted September 28, 2010 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted September 28, 2010 You'r right. I worked some more on the same file and am finding it unpredictable. Quote Link to comment
monkey
anyone else also having an arrow head appearing on polyline by default on any new class created??? this is very very annoying Quote Link to comment
Rossford
Monkey, Well, not yet, but now that you mention it, I am sure I will......(insert smiley....or frown) Since this doesn't show up in a new document, I am guessing that it has something to do with converting old files over incorrectly. But, I am no guru. Quote Link to comment
monkey
rossford, i think it may have something to do with our templates which have been converted from 2008. will investigate and report back if i find out whats going on Quote Link to comment
