Create Roof Command Failure

Aloha,

Each time when I run the AEC>Create Roof... command I am getting the following error from VW:

"Could not create roof, house drawing is too complex to compute roof."

See the attached file. Is this polygon "too complex" to create roof?

When I tried the command on a simple rectangular polygon it works fine.

Yoginathaswami I tried and was also unable to get it to work. That surprised me because it is not a particularly complex roof. The odd thing was though that if you turn the short edge on the LHS into a gable the roof will form. You should bug submit it.

In the mean time fortunately it is a roof you can easily model manually using individual roof faces.

Maybe it fails because the left hand part is a hip roof projecting out of a hip roof - it's easy for us to see how it should be done, but the program struggles.

You could also build it in stages, first as 2 separate roofs, then ungroup the small roof (or both of them) and join up the roof faces.

I ended up doing as two separate roofs and combined them manually. As Mike said, it really surprised me when the command failed. I'll submit bug.

When I have a roof fail, I find that if I draw out a series of polygons individually (typically squares and rectangles, being sure that each contacts the edge of the other), then Modify>Add Surface, that the resulting polygon generates a roof which does not fail.
